What do you do when you need a trusted electrician who is skilled in safe high voltage systems and can meet a specified deadline?
Why, you call DGE of course!
When contacted by the electricians working on the Recorp project and tasked with installing the high voltage network, we knew we could meet the specifications of the job with no problems.
But, it wasn’t without its challenges…
Let’s look at how DGE designed, built, and energised a high-stakes electrical network for Recorp’s cutting-edge manufacturing facility
The Challenge
Time critical high voltage installation to power the Recorp factory site
When a reputable company contacts you with the instruction to order two 2.5MVA transformers for installation at a progressive beverage can manufacturing facility, you know your reputation as a high voltage specialist proceeds you!
That is exactly what happened on this job. Recommended by ECS Electrical Consulting Services, DGE took on the task of delivering a private high voltage network for Recorp in a very tight timeframe.
In a busy construction plan, we only had a small window of time within that plan to retrofit the high voltage network that would enable the machines to go live within the necessary timeline.
The Scope
Create a private high voltage network with two 2.5MA transformers
High voltage networks deliver large amounts of electricity over long distances, which makes them perfect for powering large equipment and machinery. For a factory in New Zealand, you don’t get much bigger than a 2.5MVA transformer, and this job required two of them! Weighing in at 10.1 tons each, the skill and strategy to install such an item is incomparable.
The scope of the job was to design and install a private high voltage network that included two transformers, an HV metering unit and the necessary HV switchboard to supply these transformers. Along with this, the future scope and provisions of two further 2.5MVA transformers.
First, earth rings were required before the transformers could be installed. Digging down to clay level to ensure the correct earthing was implemented, we created the provisions for the safe flow of electricity across the entire site. Once the transformers were installed, the final task was to get the system live so the machinery for the canning line could begin operation.
The Delivery
Proving our trusted reputation
High voltage networks mean higher risk – the size and scale of the work involved is far more significant than a standard commercial installation. That means you need a reputable company to handle the specifics correctly. Trusted and recommended by ECS, DGE was the clear choice to undertake this project.
With a very firm date that the project had to be completed by, excellent coordination and project management were required. DGE did not disappoint, proving we were the right company for the job. Time critical planning saw this complicated project completed within the designated time frame and the network going live in time for operations to begin as planned.
The Outcome
On time, on budget, on point!
Just because the intricacies of a project are complicated, it doesn’t mean our clients should have to face any complications! At DGE we pride ourselves on supplying a one-stop electrical solution.
Recorp needed their canning operations to go live on a specific date. So, working backwards from that date, a carefully managed timeline ensured we had the equipment, team and resources to meet those needs.
Providing a complete one-stop solution from quoting to delivery, we ensured Recorp’s brand new private high voltage network was more than ready to hit their timeframe. The end result? Happy customers all round.
If your next project involves a private high voltage network along with the need for innovative electrical solutions, you trust DGE to get the job done. Contact our team to discuss the specific requirements.
